Partnerhips Model | Event Schedule | Why Recycle? | Recyclable items

JunkYard Day is an innovative program, underwritten and spearheaded by recycle industry leader AMI, to generate funds for our public schools and to underscore the merits of recycling.  JunkYard Day spotlights the 3R’s:

  • Recycle: promote recycling awareness and environmental stewardship through an educational initiative and community involvement.
  • Reclaim:  engage the community in a proactive effort to clean-up neighborhoods and residences and builds a positive mind-set about recycling
  • Resource: establishes a creative, collaborative project that provides funds to our public schools

JunkYard Day is a specific day designated by school administration, student/club leaders and in some cases parent organizations to host a recycling day on campus whereby the neighboring community and others are encouraged to bring/deposit materials/items – at no dumping cost and with added participating incentives.  “At the end of the day,” all accepted recycled material would be assessed and weighed according to industry standards (estimations are available) and funds generated by JunkYard Day awarded to the school.

JunkYard Day… 3R’s: Recycle, Reclaim, Resource embraces positive action. JunkYard Day is an exceptional collaboration between eight Eastside Union High Schools and American Metal & Iron, Inc., JunkYard Day underwriter.  A model recycling-based program, JunkYard Day, takes place on Saturdays, in April and May 2007, and for the first time orchestrates student-community-business activity that underscores the serious and significant benefits of recycling plus contributes a fundraising opportunity for our schools.
